Did anyone see the article this week in the Sun Times, these White Sox fans who love to act like they somehow are superior because they are such blue collar fans have been kidding themselves!!

It's so heart warming to watch you squirming, searching for anything to take comfort in at this, the darkest moment in Cubs history. It has to be particularly painful for you watching the Sox and their fans experience something you know you'll never experience in your life if you choose to remain a Cubs "fan."

I pity you. :D

BTW, theres nothing in these very tenuous statistics (like any intelligent person, I'm highly skeptical of these statistical surverys. How were these facts gathered? How many people were interviewed? The results actually sound about right, but any sensible person knows that you can accumulate data to say anything you want) to dispel the FACT that Wrigley Field itself has become a huge frat party in the last ten years. The point about overall alcohol consumption does not change the fact that the majority of people attend baseball games at Comiskey to watch baseball, while the majority of people who attend games at Wrigley do so to party, see and be seen, and talk to other idiots on their cell phones.....

Well - I have actually found myself cheering for the White Sox, however if they lost I won't feel any pain - and some joy!

If you watched any games on TV you will see as many Sox fans on their cell phones as at a Cubs game - that is just a foolish statement.

This survey was done by Scarborough Research which is a very highly respected firm. I would say their stats are just 99.9% more accurate than the average White Sox fan who says that all Cubs fans are yuppies.

The White Sox fans can't use their "blue collar" bs now for thier miserable attendance numbers!

I love how it always comes back to attendance numbers and its all because you don't have anything else. I'd like to do a survey to find out how many games the average cub fan attends per year compared to the number of games the average Sox fan attends per year. I'd bet they're about even...the Sox fan might have a slight edge.

G is wise beyond his years. Who cares? As a life-time Sox fan I only care that we are in the World Series. This is an awesome feeling! Cubs/Sox stuff has no relevance on this series.

Go Go Sox!!!

You don't have any fans. Anybody can go to a Sox game on any weekend during the season.

And it doesn't come back to just attendance. The point is too show all the BS the Sox fans say about being Blue Collar and the Cubs being yuppies is pure BS.

Sorry that facts and the truth don't justify the Sox fans "woe is me" status in the world.

What does being "blue collar," have to do with attendance numbers? If anything, this survey underscores the reason Reinsdorff wanted to build the new Comiskey in Addison; the Sox fan-base, which was historically the blue-collar white ethnics of the South Side, had largely moved to the south and west suburbs by the beginning of the 90's.

More importantly, why are you personally so obsessed with the White Sox attendance numbers?

I am not obssessed with their attendance records. Just pointing out facts that people have never seen.

White Sox fans have loved to be the "blue-collar" fans and many on this board have said the Cubs fans are all yuppies.

This research shows that those comments were plain ignorant.

I mention attendance only to show that they have very few real fans. The argument that Sox fans don't have the financial backing to support the team has been blown up.

So you're suggesting that these statistics show that there are as many young urban professionals (also known as yuppies) who support the Sox as support the Cubs? Incorrect, given this statistical survey is clearly of a cross-section of the "Chicagoland area," not of the city itself. The vast majority of Sox fans reside in the southwest suburbs. The "yuppies", the throngs of young college graduates from Indiana, suburban Chicago, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan etc...who move to the big city invariably gravitate to the Cubs and their frat party atmosphere.

The idea that Sox have "very few real fans" is nonsense. TV ratings suggest the Sox have an extensive following in the Chicagoland area, despite the poor attendance numbers posted by the team during their many, many mediocre seasons. Obviously, the following for the Sox is dwarfed by that of the Cubs, whose appeal is statewide and nationwide due to the exposure granted them by WGN. INterestingly, the Sox actually preceded the Cubs on the superstation, but Reinsdorff pulled the plug on the thing because he wasn't making enough $$$$$$$, and he made the insane decision to shift all Sox games to cable in the early 80's , the first of countless decisions he has made to alienate the previously loyal Sox fan base.

Then again, who gives a ******? The Sox attendance woes are Reinsdorff's problem (Which he'll make worse by jacking ticket prices through the roof next season), not mine, and certainly not yours.

Didn't you say earlier that Reinsdorf wanted to put the team in Addison. Why would he want that if all the fans were in the southwest suburbs.
