Certainly not a good situation. Mid-majors, most of them anyway, are in danger of just being minor leagues for the P 5 and the few elite mid-major types. That is, if we're not there already.

Reminding your team how bad they sucked is an interesting motivational technique.

Shaming can be an effective motivator... Probably want to make sure that apparel is locked away when potential recruits are on campus....

Then again, the 133 might be his ranking amongst the head coaches…

Yeah I saw that as well, there will be less and less players getting drafted from G5s; they'll be G5 players poached to P5 programs and drafted from there as we are the AAA feeder programs now. The CB from Toledo was an absolute rarity, and it was of no surprise to anyone that during the draft a certain SEC coaching legend flat out told on himself for tampering with him and trying to pry him away without being in the portal. This whole portal/NIL/recruiting landscape is absolute garbage anymore.

Agree, three things (1) the transfer portal that made it easier to transfer, (2) the elimination of the penalty for transferring and (3) NIL money serve to turn college football into a complete minor league system. It already was, of course, to some extent. But now, with fairly rare exceptions, each off-season there will be a sorting out of sorts with players moving up or down that minor league system. We will not see very many players with NFL or NBA potential stay at the mid-major level their entire collegiate career. In retrospect, all these changes were inevitable. It wasn't a matter of what but of when. And that genie cannot be put back in the bottle.

Syracuse probably has significant more NIL money than San Diego State which would explain Washington' transfer decision. I know shocking money might be influencing these decisions.

It would take a lot of NIL to choose Syracuse over San Diego once we hit fall and winter.
