Flashes lose both games of doubleheader at Miami

Shame, because they really could have had the second game, but Mitchell Scott gave up the tying homerun in the ninth. He's been lights out, and I think it's his first blown save of the season (or maybe second as he might have had a blown save in the extra inning game against Jacksonville).

I'd say my one complaint is that I feel like Kent might be playing small ball too often given their offense. For example, in the 6th of the second game, Timbrook bunted with a runner on first and one out. I don't know if he was bunting for a hit or trying to sacrifice, but it turned into a sacrifice and Kent ended up not scoring. There are times when it seems like Kent plays for one run when they could have a big inning and get 5.

Avoided a sweep and now a four-way tie for first, with CMU, Ball State, Kent and Ohio all at 13-5.

Avenged their 7-6 loss in Columbus with a 10-5 win at home! Way to go!

Big weekend coming up because Ohio has been surprisingly good in MAC play. I would love a sweep at home!

Western Michigan next weekend and they've quietly moved up to 4th at 13-7 in the MAC.

Yeah, every time I read something on Whitman, it seems like his raw numbers are getting better. I read something saying he is hitting 95 with the fastball now. I think he came in at about 90. I know Purdue was high on him when they got him, but it didn't work out and I don't know why (injuries, I would guess). Seems like all the potential everyone saw is coming together really fast this season. Whitman and Scott have done a lot to turn around the pitching staff.

If CMU loses (and they are down 4-2 in the 6th), then Kent only needs one win next weekend to clinch sole 1st place!
